Pietradolce is situated within the Sicilian town of Castiglione di Sicilia, nestled on the Northern slopes of Mount Etna. Despite their relatively short presence, they have swiftly risen to prominence as one of Sicily’s premier producers. Their flagship wine, the Etna Rosso named Vigna Barbagalli, has already garnered acclaim, earning a perfect score of 100 points from renowned critic James Suckling.

Remaining steadfast in their commitment to the region’s terroir, Pietradolce exclusively cultivates indigenous grape varieties native to Mount Etna. These include Nerello Mascalese, known for its late harvest yielding light-hued wines with a red fruit profile and supple tannins, rendering them approachable in youth yet also suitable for extended aging. Nerello Cappuccio, with its black fruit nuances, offers a softer and somewhat less defined character compared to its Mascalese counterpart, often likened to the relationship between Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Additionally, the winery cultivates Carricante, a white grape variety integral to crafting the exceptional Etna Bianco, occasionally utilized to impart finesse to red varieties like Nerello Mascalese.

Etna wines embody Pietradolce’s passion, marrying reverence for tradition with modern viticultural techniques. This harmonious blend allows them to craft truly remarkable wines that eloquently express the distinctive terroir of Mount Etna.
