About Chateau de Maniban
In 1832, the Castarède family established the first trading House of Armagnac when they settled with its cellars alongside an old Roman road and on a tributary of the Garonne river, the Baïse.
Initially, the trading House was bearing the name of Jules Nismes Delclou & Cie but later, the Castarède family gave the company its name and its coat of arms.
Today, sixth generation descendent Florence Castarède runs the company from her castle, the Château de Maniban situated in the Bas Armagnac region, located 1 km south of the town of Mauléon d’Armagnac, in Gers. The family personally handles the entire wine-making-process, distillation, ageing in wooden oak casks and bottling, which is carried out at the Castle. The family has several brands of Armagnac, including Armagnac Chateau de Maniban.
