Casa Ferreirinha Planalto Reserva Douro Branco 2020 White
Winemaking:
On arrival at Sogrape Vinhos’s winery in Vila Real, the grapes, hand-picked in the high areas and plateaus of the Douro, were destemmed and softly crushed before fermenting in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 16ºC and 18ºC for about 20 days. The wines were kept separately by variety and/or vineyard at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After many tasting sessions and a strict selection the final blend was prepared, and bottled after clarification and stabilisation.
Grape Varieties:
Viosinho,Malvasia Fina,Côdega de Larinho,Gouveio
Tasting Notes:
Bright clarity with greenish hints. Intense and complex bouquet, with a prevalence of white fruits (melon and pear) tropical fruits (apricot and passion fruit) and some mineral notes. The palate shows great harmony and a pleasant mouthfeel, with fruity and mineral flavours again in evidence. Long and delicate finish.
Food Pairing:
Ideal wine with salads, light dishes, fish and seafood, or on its own as an aperitif.
About Casa Ferreirinha
The Douro region is one of the oldest Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) regions in Portugal’s wine growing history. Over 250 years old, it is located in north-eastern Portugal along the Douro River Valley. Founded by Bernardo Ferreira, whose formula was refined by his descendants, especially his granddaughter Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, known affectionately as “Ferreirinha” or “Ferreirinha-da-Régua”. The prestigious A.A. Ferreira company was acquired by Sogrape in 1987.Thorough knowledge of the Douro Superior, the features of its climate and soil, and carefully selecting the varieties to be used provided winemaker Luís Sottomayor and his team the basis for Casa Ferreirinha’s premium wines.
